Dehradun: The Youth Welfare and Planning Department has included a proposal for an allowance for young people in the draft of the new youth policy. However, there have been disagreements over certain points in the current draft. Therefore, before finalizing the policy, instructions have been given to seek the opinions of youth, particularly from marginal, disaster-affected areas, as well as from the Scheduled Castes, Tribes, OBC, and EWS categories.
Final Youth Policy to Be Ready by January 12
Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya held a meeting on Tuesday in the Assembly to discuss the draft of the youth policy. She directed that the final version of the policy be prepared by January 12. The policy will focus on individuals aged 15 to 35, and its aim is to benefit all young people of Uttarakhand. During the meeting, Minister Arya discussed the issues faced by the youth in hilly and border areas, emphasizing the need for their active participation in the state’s progress.
Youth Policy to Focus on Self-Reliance
The policy emphasizes making youth self-reliant. Minister Arya also stressed the need for establishing a Youth Commission to ensure the successful implementation of the policy. The youth policy will be officially launched on January 12, on the occasion of National Youth Day. The minister highlighted the importance of understanding the challenges faced by the youth and addressing them with targeted programs. Without making the youth self-reliant, the state’s progress is not possible, she said, emphasizing the role of the youth policy and the Youth Commission in achieving this goal.
