DM and SSP Conduct Unique Inspection on Bullet to Address City Issues

Dehradun: In a unique approach to addressing city issues, Dehradun’s District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh conducted a city inspection on a Bullet motorcycle. This was the second time in recent days that the two senior officials set out together on a bike, with DM Bansal in the front and SSP Singh seated behind, to directly observe challenges in the city’s infrastructure and public safety.

On Monday, accompanied by City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, SP Traffic Mukesh Kumar, and officials from various departments such as PWD, NH, and local authorities, the team embarked on an extensive inspection route. Starting from Rajpur Road, they covered critical points like Clock Tower, MKP Chowk, Araghar, Rispana Bridge, Kargi Chowk, ISBT, Lalpul, Saharanpur Chowk, and finally reached Prince Chowk.

Inspection of Key Facilities and Initiatives for Public Safety

The inspection was focused on several public welfare and infrastructure improvements. The officials assessed potential locations for “Pink Booths” and “Pink Toilets” to enhance women’s safety, as well as areas that could benefit from improved traffic management, beautification, and encroachment removal. Additionally, they inspected conditions for parking, traffic flow, road maintenance, and drainage.

DM Bansal directed officials to propose “Pink Booths” for Gandhi Park, MKP Chowk, and Lalpul, and to install a “Pink Toilet” near the police booth at Lalpul. He also asked the police department to submit proposals for the repair of traffic lights and to install new ones where needed.

Preparation for Monsoon and Drainage Improvements

Addressing issues related to waterlogging during monsoon, particularly at Rispana Bridge, ISBT, and Prince Chowk, DM Bansal instructed officials from NH, PWD, and other departments to present comprehensive reports on solutions to mitigate the problem. He emphasized that these improvements should be implemented before the next monsoon season to ensure the city is better prepared for future rains.

This on-the-ground inspection by DM Bansal and SSP Singh reflects their commitment to maintaining Dehradun’s infrastructure, public safety, and women’s security while addressing the city’s persistent challenges.
