Various parts of Uttarakhand received rainfall and snowfall on Saturday. While Dehradun and other places in the plains and mountains received rain throughout most of the daytime, the cities located at higher altitudes experienced snowfall.
The state meteorological department has forecast light to moderate rain/snowfall at many cities in districts of the Garhwal area and very light to light rain/snowfall at a few places in districts of the Kumaon area on Sunday. Further, snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 2,500 meters and above.
The provisional state capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain/thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 20 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.
Meanwhile, there was considerable snowfall in the higher altitude mountainous regions of Chamoli district including Badrinath, Hemkund, Valley of Flowers, Niti, Gorso, and Auli in addition to higher reaches in some other districts. In Auli, the tourists enjoyed the fresh snowfall which renewed their enthusiasm for skiing.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places of the state on Saturday were 13.2 degrees Celsius and 10.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 18 degrees Celsius and 11.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, six degrees Celsius and four degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 7.6 degrees Celsius and 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Dehradun received 29.8 millimeters of rain, New Tehri received 46.8 millimeters, Chinyalisaud received 50 millimeters, Mussoorie received 34.5 millimeters while Lansdowne received 45.5 millimeters of rain on Saturday.
