Uttarakhand : Vigilance arrested Gram Pardhan for taking bribe.

On Thursday, a vigilance team from Haldwani apprehended Kavita Gumber, the Garam pradhan of Girdhar Nagar village in Gadarpur town, district Udham Singh Nagar.

Three Girdhar Nagar residents, Kaushal Kumar, Jai Saini, and Harishankar Sharma, accused Kavita Gumber of demanding a Rs 2,000 bribe for signing files for the construction of toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Following the complaints, the Haldwani vigilance team conducted a surprise raid on Gumber’s home.  The team sent a complainant to Gumber to deliver the bribe as part of the operation. The complainant paid Rs 6,000 to Gumber, and the vigilance team apprehended her.

Inspector Manohar Singh Dasauni, Head Constable Deep Joshi, Head Constable Mamta Tiwari, Constable Deepa Tamta, Girish Joshi, and others made up the team. SHO of the Gadarpur police station, Rajesh Pandey, confirmed the action and stated that police personnel were sent with vigilance cops to make the arrest. “The team brought the accused to the Haldwani office.”
