Soldier Dies as Army Truck Overturns in Devprayag

Tehri Garhwal: In a tragic road accident that occurred around 11:30 AM today near Devprayag, an Army truck overturned, leading to the death of a soldier. As soon as the police received the information, Devprayag police station in-charge Mahipal Singh Rawat and his team rushed to the spot and immediately started a rescue operation.

The accident was reported through a phone call, and a police force from both Devprayag police station and Bachelikhal police post was sent to the location. Upon arrival, the police found an overturned Army truck near NHPC Band, with a soldier trapped underneath. Without delay, the police called for a crane and rescued the soldier from under the truck. He was quickly taken to CHC Devprayag for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

Garhwal Scouts Havildar Dies in Truck Accident

The Army truck was reportedly carrying four soldiers, including Subedar Khushpal Singh of the Garhwal Scouts. They were on their way from Gauchar to Rishikesh, Dehradun. The truck driver, Darshan Singh, informed the police that the truck’s pressure system failed suddenly, causing the brakes to stop functioning. As the vehicle was climbing a steep hill, it began rolling backward. The soldiers tried to jump out of the truck, but it overturned. In this tragic accident, Havildar Shailendra Singh, 35, of the 26 Rajput Regiment, lost his life, while the other soldiers remained safe.
