Dehradun: On October 23, 2024, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a crucial cabinet meeting was held at the Uttarakhand Secretariat. The meeting resulted in 30 significant decisions on employment generation, healthcare, public welfare, and rural development. These measures aim to boost the state’s progress across various sectors. Some of the major decisions are highlighted below:
1. Approval for Helipad Construction in Haridwar SIDCUL
The cabinet approved the construction of a helipad in Haridwar’s SIDCUL area. The responsibility of selecting the land has been given to the Chief Minister. This move will significantly enhance transportation facilities for tourism and industrial zones in the state.
2. 17 New Positions Approved in UK Spice for Employment Generation
To promote startups and entrepreneurship, 17 new positions have been approved in the Uttarakhand Society for Promotion of Investment, Startups, and Entrepreneurship (UK Spice). This is expected to create new job opportunities and foster innovation in the state.
3. Amendment in Judicial Service Recruitment Rules
The cabinet has approved amendments to the 2004 Higher Judicial Service Recruitment Rules. The curriculum proposed by the High Court for recruitment will now be approved by the state government, which will streamline the recruitment process.
4. Free Gas Refill Scheme Extended Until 2027
The government has extended the Chief Minister’s Free Gas Refill Scheme for poor families until 2027. This decision will provide much-needed financial relief to low-income families and ensure their energy needs are met.
5. Protection of Slum Areas for Three Years
A new ordinance has been passed that prevents the demolition of slums for the next three years. This decision will safeguard the livelihoods of thousands of families living in slum areas, who have been facing a lack of basic facilities.
6. Water Extraction Charges to Be Implemented
From December 1, 2024, the government will impose charges on groundwater extraction and spring water usage. This is a crucial step toward water conservation and management in the state.
7. Land Allocation for Civil Court in Vikasnagar
The cabinet has approved the allocation of 358 square meters of land on a 30-year lease for the construction of a civil court in Vikasnagar. This will improve access to judicial services for the local population.
8. Financial Aid and Health Benefits for Victims of Human-Wildlife Conflict
Victims of human-wildlife conflict will now receive both financial aid and health benefits under the Ayushman Scheme. This will ensure swift compensation and healthcare for families affected by wildlife incidents.
9. Economic Boost for Border Districts
Shepherds and fishermen in the border districts of Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Uttarkashi will be economically supported. Around 10,000 shepherds and 500 fishermen will supply mutton and trout fish to ITBP soldiers. This initiative is expected to generate employment for over 2,000 people and bring in an economic boost of approximately ₹200 crores to local markets.
10. Five Students to Study in the UK under the CM Chevening Scholarship
The cabinet has approved the Chief Minister’s Higher Education Chevening Scholarship, which will provide an opportunity for five meritorious students to pursue education in the UK. This will open up new avenues for higher education for students from Uttarakhand.
These decisions collectively aim to drive socio-economic growth in the state, with a focus on improving public welfare, education, and employment opportunities for all sections of society.
