Firozabad, UP: A notorious gangster on the run for 13 years, Kuldeep Singh, was injured in a police encounter in the Sirsaganj area of Firozabad early Friday morning. The UP police apprehended Kuldeep Singh after he sustained a bullet wound to his leg during the encounter. He is currently under medical care and will be presented in court soon.
Kuldeep Singh, with a ₹50,000 bounty on his head, had been wanted by the Sirsaganj police since 2011 under multiple criminal charges, including cases registered under the Gangster Act. During the arrest, the police seized an illegal firearm, live and empty cartridges, and a stolen motorcycle from the accused. Kuldeep, a resident of Katmira, Shikohabad, had managed to evade capture for over a decade.
The encounter took place around 5 a.m. when police received a tip-off about Kuldeep’s location near Surajpur canal. When police attempted to apprehend him, he tried to escape, causing his bike to skid. In the ensuing exchange, Kuldeep opened fire on the police, who responded in kind, injuring him.
According to SP Rural Akhilesh Bhadoria, Kuldeep was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. Bhadoria stated that the police have been actively pursuing him for years but only managed to capture him today due to a well-coordinated operation. Further investigations are underway, as authorities suspect Kuldeep may have information on other criminal activities.
This successful operation reflects UP police’s commitment to apprehending fugitives and maintaining law and order.
