Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the ‘Karmayogi Saptah’ (National Learning Week) on October 19 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. This event is part of the Mission Karmayogi initiative, which was introduced in September 2020 to build a future-ready civil service that reflects Indian values and adopts a global outlook.
Focus on Learning and Development for Civil Servants
The National Learning Week (NLW) will be the largest initiative of its kind aimed at enhancing individual and organizational capacities across the government. Civil servants, referred to as “Karmayogis,” will be required to engage in at least 4 hours of competency-linked learning throughout the week. This learning will focus on strengthening skills and knowledge that align with national goals and improve citizen-centric governance.
Competency-Linked Learning Targets
The targeted 4 hours of learning can be fulfilled through various formats, including role-based modules on the iGOT (Integrated Government Online Training) platform, public webinars, and policy masterclasses delivered by eminent experts. Workshops and seminars organized by different ministries and departments will further enhance domain-specific competencies among civil servants, helping to cultivate a culture of lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
Prominent Speakers and Engagements
During NLW, a series of high-profile talks will be delivered by notable speakers, providing insights into their areas of expertise. These engagements aim to boost the capability of civil servants to deliver more effective, citizen-centric services. In line with the “One Government” message, the initiative seeks to unify the nation’s administrative efforts toward national development goals, enhancing the ability of public officials to adapt to future challenges and drive impactful governance reforms.
With this National Learning Week, the government aims to set a new benchmark for professional development, equipping civil servants with the skills needed for a rapidly changing global environment.
About Mission Karmayogi
Mission Karmayogi is designed to transform the way Indian civil servants are trained, emphasizing continuous learning, enhanced performance, and better delivery of services. The initiative represents a significant shift in building a more efficient, accountable, and responsive civil service.
This week-long event will reaffirm the government’s commitment to nurturing a dynamic and skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of the future.
