BJP Gears Up for Civic Polls as Kedarnath By-Election Results Awaited

Dehradun: While the results of the Kedarnath by-election are set to be announced today, the BJP has already shifted its focus to the upcoming civic body elections. On Thursday, a meeting was held at the party headquarters with office bearers from 19 organizational districts to deliberate on potential candidates for mayor, municipal council, and nagar panchayat chairperson positions.

Candidate Selection Strategy in Motion

BJP President Mahendra Bhatt, who chaired the meeting, emphasized that candidate selection for civic polls will be based on feedback and surveys. Observers have been tasked with visiting various municipal bodies to gather input from local leaders, including ward members, party workers, and mandal officials, regarding potential candidates.

“We are prioritizing transparency and comprehensive feedback in the candidate selection process,” Bhatt said. Based on the observers’ reports and survey findings, a panel of candidates will be prepared. The meeting was attended by district presidents, general secretaries, and party MLAs from the organizational districts.

Eyes on Kedarnath By-Election Results

Meanwhile, the results of the Kedarnath by-election, in which six candidates contested, will be announced today. Shortly after polling concluded, the BJP convened its meeting to discuss strategies for the upcoming civic polls.

This proactive approach signals the party’s intent to finalize candidates and fine-tune its election strategy well in advance, showcasing its focus on securing an edge in the civic elections.
