ICC Revises Champions Trophy Tour Schedule Following BCCI’s Objection, Excludes PoK

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made changes to the Champions Trophy trophy tour schedule for next year following objections from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The original plan included stops in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), but the revised itinerary excludes these regions.

The trophy tour will now pass through Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The tour will kick off in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, before visiting Taxila and Khanpur on November 17, Abbottabad on November 18, Murree on November 19, Nathiagali on November 20, and conclude in Karachi between November 22 and 25.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had announced on November 14 that the tour would include cities such as Skardu, Hunza, Murree, and Muzaffarabad, sparking protests from India.

BCCI’s Strong Objection

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who will assume the ICC chairman’s role on December 1, raised objections to the trophy’s planned stops in PoK. Shah argued that it was unacceptable for PCB to include PoK in the tour itinerary, leading ICC to revise the schedule.

This change reflects the ongoing political sensitivities surrounding the Kashmir region, which remains a point of contention between India and Pakistan.
