Dehradun, Uttarakhand: In a tragic incident late last night(13th of November), six vehicles collided at the Asharodi checkpost near Dehradun, resulting in the death of one person and leaving multiple others injured. The accident occurred during routine vehicle checks by the sales tax department at the checkpost.
According to reports, sales tax officers and a PRD (Provincial Armed Constabulary) personnel were conducting routine checks when they signaled a utility vehicle to stop. The driver of the utility vehicle applied brakes as instructed, but this sudden halt led to two vehicles behind it colliding with each other.
Moments later, a large container truck approached from behind and, unable to stop in time, crashed into the cluster of vehicles. The impact was devastating, causing significant damage to all the vehicles involved.
The driver of the utility vehicle was killed instantly. Two sales tax officers, a PRD personnel, and another individual suffered severe injuries and were immediately taken to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment.
This incident highlights the risks posed by sudden stops and the importance of maintaining safe distances between vehicles, especially at checkpoints. Authorities are expected to investigate further to determine the exact cause and evaluate whether any preventive measures could have been taken to avoid the collision.
