After attacking his wife with a baseball bat, he shot his mother-in-law in the head with a pistol and then took his own life.

Upon receiving the information, police reached the scene, broke the locked door, and found three blood-soaked bodies inside. The forensic team collected evidence from the spot, which included a pistol, bullet casings, and a baseball bat. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was a case of murder followed by suicide, likely after a domestic dispute.

According to police reports, they received information about gunfire in a house on Lane Number 8 in Tehri Displaced Colony. A locked gate from inside raised suspicion. Rani Pur Kotwali Inspector Kamal Mohan Bhandari, along with SSI Manohar Rawat, reached the site with their team. Upon breaking the door, they found three dead bodies in a room. A pistol, bullet casings, and a baseball bat were recovered near the bodies.

Senior police officials, including SSP Premendra Singh Dobal, SP City Swatantra Kumar, SP Crime Pankaj Gairola, and ASP Jitendra Mehra, also arrived at the scene for further investigation.

Identification of Deceased

SP City Swatantra Kumar Singh identified the deceased as:

  • Rajeev Arora (60): Son of late Sansar Singh, originally from Arya Nagar, Jwalapur, now residing in Siddharth Enclave, Maharani Bagh, Ashram, Delhi.
  • Sunita (55): Wife of Rajeev Arora.
  • Shakuntala (78): Mother-in-law of Rajeev, widow of late Jagdish Chandra, and a resident of Tehri Displaced Colony, Rani Pur.

Sequence of Events

Initial inquiries revealed that a heated argument broke out between Rajeev and his wife, Sunita. In a fit of rage, Rajeev attacked Sunita with a baseball bat, fatally injuring her. He then shot his mother-in-law, Shakuntala, in the head before turning the gun on himself.

The family had been residing in Delhi and had arrived in Haridwar on Sunday. Rajeev was employed at a company in Delhi. The motive behind the murder and suicide is under investigation.
