Haridwar, India: A major incident of stone pelting was reported on the Vande Bharat Express train traveling from Dehradun to Lucknow. The attack, carried out by a 22-year-old named Salman, son of Shehnaz, caused panic among passengers after breaking a coach window.
The stone-pelting incident occurred on Thursday when Vande Bharat Express, train number 22546, was passing near the village of Khadanja Qutubpur in the Luxor-Moradabad rail section. A stone hit coach C-6, shattering a window and startling the passengers in the compartment.
Investigation Leads to Suspect’s Arrest
Following the incident, the driver of the Vande Bharat train promptly informed the Moradabad control room, which triggered a swift response from the railway staff. The Rapid Protection Force (RPF) team from Luxor, including Inspector Ravi Kumar Siwach, Sub-Inspector Krishan Sharma, Head Constable Vijender Singh, and Constable Puneet, reached the scene to investigate. Upon further inquiry, it was discovered that the stone pelting was carried out by Salman, a resident of Khadanja Qutubpur village in Luxor, Haridwar district. The RPF subsequently arrested the accused.
Case Filed Under the Railway Act
CPRO Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay stated that action was taken immediately after receiving information about the incident. The accused was arrested, and a case was filed under the relevant sections of the Railway Act. RPF Inspector Ravi Kumar Siwach confirmed that legal proceedings are underway. The incident highlights the continued issue of safety on trains and the strict action taken by authorities to curb such acts.
