Dehradun: In a positive development for state government employees, they will likely receive their salary and Diwali bonus this month. The Secretariat Employees’ Association delegation met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami with this request, which he accepted. A proposal related to this is expected to be presented in today’s cabinet meeting.
CM Dhami Responds Positively to Employee Council’s Demands
On October 18, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with a delegation from the State Employees Joint Council, led by Council President Arun Pandey. During the meeting, the council requested a 3% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) and payment of the Diwali bonus for employees. The delegation highlighted that the central government had already increased the DA for its employees from 50% to 53%. CM Dhami responded positively to the demands and directed the finance department to take necessary actions, following which the movement of official files has begun.
Secretariat Employees Demand Diwali Leave and Bonus
A separate delegation from the Secretariat Employees’ Association, led by President Sunil Lakhera, requested that October 31 be declared a holiday for Diwali. The association also demanded a Diwali bonus and a 3% DA hike for non-gazetted employees with a grade pay of up to ₹5,400. President Lakhera stated that the Chief Minister agreed to these demands, and they are expected to be discussed in the upcoming cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
