Dr. Suman Joshi Pandey Receives ICSSR Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Research on Kumaoni Tribe

Adding to this legacy, Dr. Suman Joshi Pandey, a native of Gangolihat, has been awarded a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

Dr. Suman’s research under this fellowship will delve into the traditional healing practices of the Kumaoni tribe. Her study will also examine the social, economic, and cultural dimensions of these practices. Dr. Suman completed her Ph.D. in 2021 from Kumaun University, DSB Campus, Nainital, under the guidance of Professor G.S. Negi. Her academic journey began in Nainital, where she developed a keen interest in tribal studies and cultural research.

Family Support Behind Success

Dr. Suman credits her success to her parents, mentors, and family. Her father, Madan Joshi, works in the private sector, while her mother, Manju Joshi, is a homemaker. She also has two younger brothers pursuing their education. Her husband, Vivek Pandey, works as a software engineer at TCS, and the couple’s extended family resides in Almora.
