Dehradun is set to host India’s inaugural astro-tourism event, ‘Nakshatra Sabha’, at the Everest Estate in Mussoorie starting May 31. The event will feature a range of activities including celestial observation, solar viewing, museum tours, geology sessions, and more.

Dehradun: The nation’s first yearly astrological tourism campaign, “Nakshatra Sabha,” which will include six events timed to correspond with the astronomical calendar, is being planned by the state tourist agency. Beginning on May 31 at the Everest estate in Mussoorie, the inaugural three-day event will include events including celestial observation, a rocketry session, a panel discussion on dark sky conservation, a visit of the George Everest Museum, and geology seminars.

There are several ways to get to the event. The first, which costs Rs 799, covers admission, all activities, and a keepsake but not meals. For Rs 2,299, the second choice comes with food and other amenities. Depending on occupancy, tent packages might cost anywhere from Rs 7,000 to Rs 15,000. Officials said that the second event will be held in October at Jadung, Uttarkashi, and in November at Benital, in the Karnaprayag block. The fourth event is scheduled for December in Rishikesh, while the fifth event is scheduled for late February or early March of next year in Jageshwar, Almora. The last event is scheduled for the latter part of March in Ramnagar.

According to Sachin Kurve, the secretary of tourism, “We are all set with our preparations and optimistic of a positive response in all six events.”
