Election commission : AAP get a national party status
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received a major boost on Monday when the Election Commission of India (ECI)recgnised it as a national party. Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC), and the Communist Party of India (CPI) have all lost their national party status as a result of the poll panel’s latest decisions. However, the NCP and AITC will be recognised as state parties in Nagaland and Meghalaya, respectively. Based on their performance in the recently concluded assembly elections, the NCP and Trinamool Congress will be recognised as state parties in Nagaland and Meghalaya, respectively, according to the Commission. In its order issued on Monday, the Election Commission also revoked the state party status of several political parties, including BRS in Telangana, whileTipra Motha was granted the status of “recognised state political party.” The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) also benefited from the poll panel’s decision, as it was granted state party status in Nagaland. Sharad Pawar: Someone’s educational degree can’t be a political issue.
Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, questioned on Sunday whether someone’s education degree can be a political issue in the country at a time when the country is dealing with unemployment, law and order issues, and inflation. The statement follows speculation sparked by his recent statement on Adani. The Aam Aadmi Party has raised the issue, and jailed AAP leader Manish Sisodia wrote a letter from Tihar saying that the country needs an educated person in the position of Prime Minister. The Gujarat high court overturned a 2016 order by the central information commissioner requesting that information about Modi’s university degrees be provided to AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under the right to Information Act.
