The convoy of Uttar Pradesh government minister Manohar Lal has been attacked. A mob surrounded and brutally beat the minister’s security personnel and staff, and also looted a pistol. The police have arrested two young men and recovered the pistol. The incident took place on the Gwalior-Dabra highway over a dispute regarding overtaking a vehicle.

On Friday evening, the convoy of Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Manohar Lal Panth (Mannu Kori), was attacked by a mob near Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). The mob dragged out the security personnel and staff from the vehicle and beat them with fists and kicks.

In addition to beating the security personnel, the attackers also looted his service pistol. The news of the attack on the minister’s convoy caused a stir in the police department, with senior police officers rushing to the scene. The police set up roadblocks and arrested two suspects, recovering the pistol. They are also searching for the other attackers.

According to the Minister’s Public Relations Officer, Sonu Chaubey, the minister was returning from an event in Agra and was passing through Gwalior on the way back. As the convoy reached the Baghel Dhaba near the Gwalior-Dabra highway, the driver tried to overtake by taking the vehicle in the wrong lane due to a traffic jam. This led to an argument with a motorcyclist. A security officer named Suresh Kumar slapped the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist, threatening, drove off but soon returned with 10-15 other people and surrounded the minister’s car.

The attackers dragged out security personnel Suresh Kumar, assistant Rakesh Kumar, and PRO Sonu, and beat them mercilessly in front of the minister. The accused also stole a 9mm pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition from Suresh Kumar.

After the attack on the minister’s convoy, the police were alarmed. Senior officers reached the spot, and an FIR was filed at Bilua Police Station against unknown individuals.
