April’s “exceptional” snowfall and rain increased the output of hydroelectric plants.

DEHRADUN: The “exceptional” snowfall and rain in April increased hydropower plant output and temporarily relieved the state-owned Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (UJVNL) of its recent production deficit, which was brought on by this winter’s lack of snow and rain compared to previous year.
UJVNL records show that, up until April 16, there was a power deficit of around 5 million units (MU) compared to the previous year, even before the late April rains.

the condition of anonymity, “On April 16, production from all 19 hydropower facilities was 8.96 MU, compared to 12.11 MU on the same day last year.” The “late” rains had contributed to an increase in electricity output,

UJVNL public relations officer Vimal Dabral.
